This series of photos (presumably taken by John Blacksmith) was e-mailed anonymously to NOHARMM in May 2001. The photos most likely represent a pre-pubescent circumcision ritual performed by a tribal leader in Africa. Notice the boy's simultaneous facial terror and sexual stimulation exhibited by his erect penis. What messages do this violent act send to his brain and psyche about his body and his sexuality? Is this a human rights violation? Is the same involuntary genital cutting by a religious or medical "leader" on a terrified and struggling infant also a human rights violation?
